Shouei System announced that it will release a network multiplayer-enabled RPG named Warrz for the Dreamcast.
This game was first introduced to the public at last year's Tokyo Game Show Autumn, and we haven't heard anything since. In the beginning, the game was being developed for the now defunct Sega Saturn, but Shouei System has decided to release the game for the Dreamcast instead.
Currently nothing is known about the Dreamcast version. But when the game was being developed for the Sega Saturn, the game was to support up to 5,000 simultaneous players. When the company showed the game at TGS, the game was playable with 16 simultaneous players from three different booths (Shouei, Sega, and Sieg) connected via a telephone line. The game was polygon based, set on a medieval-like world (with the usual magic and swordplay), where players tried to beat an evil lord. Players could choose to be a merchant or to be married to another player, with a kid.
We'll keep you posted as more information breaks about this upcoming title.
