TOKYO--Sega Music Networks will soon begin a new download service that offers a number of classic 16-bit titles to PC gamers. Calling the service Sega Game Hompo, the service will go live tomorrow. The Sega subsidiary will be offering subscribers a library of Megadrive and Genesis titles that can be downloaded and played on their PCs. Priced at a flat rate of 1,000 yen ($9.25) per month, subscribers will be able to choose three games to play each month. A sneak peek of the service is currently available on the site. Sega plans on building Sega Game Hompo into a portal for Megadrive/Genesis games and also hopes to create a community around the online offerings.

　　Titles scheduled for release include Sonic & Knuckles, Gunstar Heroes, and Ecco the Dolphin. All told, there will be 30 titles available at launch, and Sega plans to eventually offer more than 100 games. Sega will also release some of the Megadrive titles as stand-alone products for the PC under the Hompo brand. The retail games will be released the same day as the launch of the online service, but the price will be considerably higher, as each title will retail for 2,000 yen ($18.50).
