Rip Cord Games and Zombie Virtual Reality Studios announced their intention to integrate the RTIME Interactive Networking Engine into the upcoming multiplayer add-on for SpecOps: Rangers Lead the Way.
The companies are using the RTIME engine to "ensure smooth game play and realtime response over the Internet for two to six players."
RTIME is client/server networking engine that manages the flow of information among Internet game players to allow for from two to 2,000 players and spectators to participate in the same game at the same time. The engine combats high latency-low bandwidth problems through what it calls "client frame-rate decoupling, Dynamic Motion Modeling, global timebase, and realtime, affinity-based data filtering."
Rip Cord uses Zombie's Viper 3D engine in the single-player version of SpecOps, and now in the upcoming multiplayer add-on.
