Xbox Game Pass users have added more than 23 million friends on Xbox Live since March, which represents a 70 percent growth in new friends, according to Microsoft. In terms of gaming, subscribers are "playing twice as much," though the company did not say if this is based on total time or number of games played. Additionally, Microsoft said multiplayer gaming for subscribers is up 130 percent.
Another interesting statistic is that subscribers play 40 percent more games overall, while more than 90 percent of users played a game they might have otherwise looked past. Microsoft added that subscribers are checking out genres outside of their familiarity.
"We're humbled by the reception to Xbox Game Pass. It's changing the way we play and discover games together, and it inspires us on our journey to help people connect through gaming," Xbox boss Phil Spencer said. "I've always believed gaming has a unique power to bring us together, and I’m proud of how our artform is introducing this unique power to more people during a time of need. I have no doubt that we'll come through this experience stronger than ever."
One of the next big additions to Xbox Game Pass is Rockstar's celebrated western, Red Dead Redemption 2, which launches into the program on May 7. The game arrives in the catalog as Rockstar's bigger game, GTA V, is removed from the program. The co-op game Moving Out was surprise-launched on the service this week.
Xbox Game Pass costs $10 USD per month, or you can get it with Xbox Live Gold in the Xbox Game Pass Ultimate offering for $15 USD/month to save a few bucks.
