Last night on the Colbert Report, host Stephen Colbert poked fun at the recent revelation that American and British agents infiltrated World of Warcraft and Second Life to hunt terrorists.
"That's right. The NSA is spying on Second Life, a game for people who don't have a first one," Colbert said.
The leaked documents from former National Security Agency (NSA) contractor Edward Snowden showed that so many different intelligence agents were conducting operations inside World of Warcraft and Second Life that they needed to establish a "deconfliction" group to ensure they were not spying on or interfering with each other.
Colbert jabbed this detail as well by rolling a clip of various characters inside Second Life who discover they are all in fact NSA agents. Lastly, Colbert calls out the fact that the NSA documents showed no terrorist plots were foiled by snooping on World of Warcraft and Second Life, suggesting that terrorists have instead moved on to Madden NFL 25.
Check out the full clip on Comedy Central's website. Last week, Comedy Central's The Daily Show also roasted the government snooping of video games.
