Developed by Radical Entertainment and published by THQ, MTV Sports: Pure Ride is a new snowboarding title, for the Sony PlayStation and the Game Boy Color, that promises thousands of trick combinations and gameplay features. The most prominent is the "create a park" feature, which will let fans of the extreme sport sharpen their skills, even in the off season. Players can create their own runs based on one of three different mountains and place jumps, rails, trees, rocks, and cliffs. They can even challenge CPU opponents whose attributes are patterned after professional riders each possessing their own unique tricks. Licensed boards include MLY, M3, Sims and Salomon, while the game's musical score will feature tunes provided by up-and-coming bands with styles ranging from hard-core grunge to hip-hop.
Peter Dille, vice president of THQ's marketing department said, "[Our game] is all about personal expression and creativity. Whether in a half-pipe, big-air competition, or simply free riding down the mountain, boarders make their mark in new and imaginative ways."
MTV Sports: Pure Ride is set for a fall 2000 release on the PlayStation. GameSpot will have screenshots and impressions on this title soon.
