Sony isn't waiting until its PlayStation Experience keynote address tomorrow to make announcements. Eight PlayStation 2 games will arrive for PlayStation 4 tomorrow, December 5, Sony announced today.

The following titles will be available to buy tomorrow from the PlayStation Store in the Americas and Europe:

Dark Cloud — $14.99Grand Theft Auto III — $14.99Grand Theft Auto: Vice City — $14.99Grand Theft Auto: San Andreas — $14.99Rogue Galaxy — $14.99The Mark of Kri — $14.99Twisted Metal: Black — $9.99War of the Monsters — $9.99In addition, PaRappa the Rapper 2 and The King of Fighters 2000 will be added later.

Every game has Trophy support, and PlayStation boss Shuhei Yoshida notes that each game's Trophy set was "developed in conjunction with feedback from the original creators to be sure that they capture the spirit and feeling of each game." In addition, they all run in upscaled 1080p and include support for the following features just like other PS4 games:

This was following a survey it sent out in October asking PS4 users to list the most important features they would like to see added to the console. Among these was the option of support for PS1 and PS2 classics.

Looking ahead, Yoshida said Sony will work "tirelessly" to release even more PS2 games for PS4 "on a regular basis," though none were named outright except for PaRappa the Rapper 2 and The King of Fighters 2000.

Note that this is not exactly backwards compatibility. Even if you still own the PS2 discs, you'll have to buy them again to play on PS4.

PlayStation Experience runs December 5-6 in San Francisco. Check back with GameSpot all weekend long for all the news from the show.
