Lee 'CloudTemplar' Hyun-woTeam Dark can't seem to get it right. After losing Apdo, their star player, for ELO boosting, the team marched on and still managed to qualify for OGN Champions Winter. They've had a rough go of it so far, failing to win a match yet. Now the team has been disqualified from the round of 16 in OGN Champions Winter for running a troll game to honor of the recently retired Lee 'CloudTemplar' Hyun-woo.
The news comes from Korean esports Association (KeSPA) President Jun Byung-Hun, who expressed his "extreme disappointment" in what happened. KeSPA, Riot, and OGN met to discuss the issue, and found that the right course of action would be disqualifying the team.
Erik 'ggDoA' Lonnquist, who cast the game, concurred with the decision in a statement on reddit.
"At the end of the day this is the biggest league in Korea and teams, amateur or not, need to take their participation in it seriously," he said. "It's a pretty harsh punishment, but I agree with the message it sends to the other teams. If you're not up for playing, then maybe you shouldn't be here."
The game itself lasted eight minutes. Team Dark ran a composition of champions Hyun-woo played, which featured Shen, Trundle, Skarner, Maokai, and Amumu. You can watch the match here.
