[UPDATE] The event has begun. As part of the presentation, Treyarch designers said the map retains the same basic design, but the middle has been made larger. In addition, players can thrust jump up and into windows. It was also confirmed that there will not be a 24/7 Nuk3town playlist at launch.
The original story is below.
Today's Black Ops Fridays livestream is the final one in series and it appears Treyarch has saved the best for last. The event begins at 12 PM PDT / 3 PM EDT and will provide the first extended look at Call of Duty: Black Ops III's new spin on the Nuketown map, which Treyarch is inexcusably calling Nuk3town.
We'll update this post with the livestream video embed when it gets closer to 12 PM PDT.
Activision announced the Nuk3town multiplayer map at the end of August, but at the time only shared one piece of concept art for it and no gameplay footage. The classic map has been "reimagined" for Black Ops III's new 2065 setting. As you can see in the two seconds of gameplay in the GameStop video below (22 seconds in), Nuketown has changed substantially since Call of Duty: Black Ops II.
"We carefully adapted the design of the map to make sure that it fit with our new movement system, but to also make sure that we retained the spirit and the fun that made fans fall in love with it in the first place," Treyarch boss Mark Lamia said about the changes made for Nuk3town.
Nuketown was first seen in the original Black Ops from 2010 and then again in Black Ops II, where it was known as Nuketown 2025. The map also appeared in Black Ops Declassified as Nukehouse.
The new Nuk3town is available only on Xbox One, PlayStation 4, and PC as a preorder bonus, though it's possible it will be released for everyone later as DLC.
Black Ops III launches on November 6 across all platforms. In other recent news, Activision has announced a Call of Duty beer called "Black Hops."
