At its Camp Game Boy Advance press event held Friday in Pescadero, Calif., Nintendo of America's director of game development Ken Lobb confirmed that Nintendo is already hard at work on a new Metroid game for its new handheld. And though it has been speculated that the Game Boy Advance Metroid game would probably be a port of Super Metroid, Lobb assured the press that the Metroid game will be a completely new game made specifically with the Game Boy Advance in mind.
Lobb spoke directly about a recent Nintendo meeting in Japan, where Nintendo representatives announced several games that are being ported from the SNES to the GBA. One of the games on that list was Metroid for the GBA. "One of the things I wanted to get across in this meeting is Metroid [for the GBA] is not Super Metroid," he said. "Metroid is something new." Lobb wouldn't comment further, and no official details have been announced regarding the game. Lobb did state that Nintendo will be showing the Metroid game at E3 this year.
