The MLB may no longer be a part of EA Sports' license stable, but that doesn't mean EA's baseball development team is sitting on its collective keister. At least, that's how it appears. A post on the Operation Sports message board from the producer of MVP Baseball states that an announcement on the MVP team's upcoming 2006 baseball project will be made next week. While there weren't any more details in this pre-announcement posting, many fans are expecting the MVP team to announce a long-rumored NCAA baseball game, which makes sense in light of EA Sports' deal to secure the NCAA football license.
If it turns out to be true, an NCAA baseball game will likely have a tough road to hoe from the outset; college baseball is below many general sports fans' radar--that is, until the College World Series rolls around each year. On the other hand, with the development acumen of the MVP team behind it and the marketing muscle of EA Sports on its side, there's probably no better team to make a game like this a success.
