It's another busy week on the PlayStation Network. Last week Sony launched its paid PlayStation Plus subscription service and made Sucker Punch's inFamous available for download. This week might exceed the fervor of the prior, thanks in part to add-on content for Infinity Ward's billion-dollar game.
One of the most prominent digital releases this week is the $15 Resurgence map pack for Activision's Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2. The pack, which was released on Xbox Live a month ago, features five maps, two of which are recycled from the original Modern Warfare.
Modern Warfare 2 DLC surges to PS3.
Available this week as digital download for the PlayStation 3 are two new titles. The first of which is Monkey Island Special Edition 2: LeChuck's Revenge ($9.99). The game centers around the clumsy, yet earnest pirate Guybrush Threepwood. The title originally launched in 1991, and the special edition has been updated with enhanced visuals, an in-game hint system, and an updated musical score.
The second title added to the PS3 download hub was Family Feud ($9.99). Like the television show bearing the same name, the game pits two families against each other, tasking them with answering questions verily. The game also has a multiplayer mode for both local and online gameplay.
Notable batches of downloadable content hitting the store this week include the Aliens vs. Predator Bughunt DLC ($6.99), add-on content for Dragon Age: Origins by the name of Leliana's Song ($6.99), Danny Way's Hawaiian Dream ($6.99) for Skate 3, and a heap of Marvel costume packs for Little Big Planet ($1.99-$5.99).
On the PSP download front, Sony added three new titles this week. The first is Shin Megami Tensei: Persona 3 Portable ($39.99). This PSP version of Persona 3 was released in Japan in 2009 and made its way to North America this week. The handheld iteration is an updated version of the PlayStation 2 role-playing game and lets gamers play as a female protagonist, among other new additions.
Another PSP title available now for digital download is the film tie-in for this Friday's Despicable Me ($29.99). In the game, players will jump into the shoes of Gru, the supervillian, and attempt the greatest (or possibly the silliest) heist in history: stealing the moon.
The final PSP title hitting the download store this week was Chameleon Legacy ($4.99). In the title, players will match colors on their playfields using "several" characters and a variety of game modes, though the quantitative specifics of either were not noted.
Sony added four PSP Minis to the store this week, including Widget's Odyssey ($1.99), The Mystery of the Crystal Portal ($4.99), 5-in-1 Arcade Hits ($3.99), and 4X4 Jam ($4.99).
On the music game front, Rock Band welcomes a 12-pack from Creedence Clearwater Revival, and Guitar Hero adds a triple shot of Queen songs.
