April 1 - Last night, GameSpot News was informed by a highly placed source at Nintendo of America that Miyamoto, the driving force behind the Zelda series, was, in fact, fired. Reports are that Nintendo has made a new commitment to getting games out on time and, as everyone knows, Miyamoto is notoriously late delivering his games. "We think this delivers a clear message about our commitment to our customers to deliver our products in a timely manner," our Nintendo source said.

　　But there may be a darker side to the story. Miyamoto has been one of the most influential creative forces in video games for years; when asked how the loss of his powerful creative presence will affect the company as a whole, our source commented simply, "We have a replacement."

　　This replacement is purportedly a former student of Miyamoto's who left Nintendo after a battle royale about the precise shade of green Link's hat should be. Rumor has it, however, that the protege was actually forced to leave because he threatened to eclipse Miyamoto, and Miyamoto leveraged his power and had the protege fired.

　　Now, some claim that Miyamoto's firing may, in fact, be part of a conspiracy to bring the protege back and have him be Nintendo's artistic beacon in the coming age of the DD.
