Resident Evil 2 is the first significant challenger to GoldenEye's reign of supremacy over the video game rental charts since Final Fantasy VII. GoldenEye hasn't been unseated from the top position and remains very strong, racking up double the amount of earnings per week.
The second PlayStation game in the top five is THQ's WCW Nitro, landing at number four this week. The others (no surprise) are Mario Kart at number three and Diddy Kong Racing at number five.
For the curious, here's the list from the Video Software Dealer's Association VidTrac system for the week ending Feb. 8, 1998: 1 GoldenEye 007 / N64 $325,.360 2 Resident Evil 2 / PlayStation $213,280 3 Mario Kart / N64 $183,550 4 WCW Nitro / PlayStation $182,450 5 Diddy Kong Racing / N64 $169,050
