In early November, EA put out a call for individuals willing to test its new action role-playing game Darkspore. That testing phase appeared to be going well, considering that two months later, EA had announced a March 29 ship date for the title in the US. As it turns out, EA's release date announcement was premature, and the publisher confirmed today that, after concluding its closed beta-testing phase, it has decided to delay the game worldwide.
Darkspore will now be in bloom beginning April 26. Darkspore is now expected to ship for the PC in North America on April 26, with the game's European and Asia Pacific rollout scheduled for April 28. "We're really close, but in order to make the best game possible, the team has decided to take additional time to incorporate more of your feedback," an EA representative said of the delay on the game's official forum.
Along with announcing the end of the current beta test, EA said that it would be initiating more trial periods in the future. The publisher also said that it is planning an open beta-testing phase for April.
