Cave announces three new titles-May 2024
May 7, 2025 9:50 PM

The weekend wasn't that quiet for Japan; in addition to the Amusement Machine Operators' Union (or AOU) 2011, Cave also held its own event in Akihabara, Tokyo, called "Important Announcement From Cave." According to a recent post from website 4Gamer.net (translated by Andriasang.com), the company known for "bullet hell" shooters like Ibara and DoDonPachi showed off its latest titles coming out this year, ranging from new games outside of its genre of expertise to ports of its existing franchises.

Its newest game, called Instant Brain, will be the first adventure game from the company. The title puts players in control of Zenya Barataki, a paparazzi with a special camera that takes pictures of people's memories. With it, he uncovers a dark conspiracy involving a top idol and a major past incident in the entertainment industry. While the game's target platform has yet to be confirmed, Cave mentioned that the game is in development for the Xbox 360.

The company also announced a new action game called Nin Nin Jump, where players control a ninja named Nin Ja as he leaps through various 2D stages to save Princess Sakura from the evil ninja Namakura. The game is presented as a shadow puppet play, with silhouettes of a crowd spectating Nin Ja's action onscreen and the main character himself being held by a stick.

As the game progresses, Nin Ja can use a chain to hook onto walls and air dash, as well as unleash temporary ninja scroll powers to dash through enemies and kill them instantly. The game will feature leaderboard rankings and a Score Attack mode where consecutively killing enemies multiply your score.

Recent arcade shooter Akai Katana Shin will be getting an Xbox 360 port from Cave. This version will have high-definition visuals redone by the developers that support full widescreen output, a stage with a new boss, and a yet-to-be-announced game system change.

Finally, Cave also announced a port of Deathsmiles for the iPhone. The game will be a straight port of the Xbox 360 version. Cave also mentioned a big update for the iPhone game Mushihimesama Bug Panic, making the existing Bug Battle mod compatible with 3G, Wi-Fi and Bluetooth. The update will add support to toggle auto bomb on and off, extending the Lite version with Bug Battle mode, and include the first world in Adventure and Score Attack mode.
