Activision has announced and revealed Call of Duty: Warzone, a new standalone free-to-play game that is also available through Call of Duty: Modern Warfare as a game mode. Warzone itself is divided into two separate modes: Plunder and Battle Royale. The star of the show is Battle Royale though, and the new mode implements several features to give you something to do during the traditional downtimes of a battle royale game.
The most noteworthy of these is The Gulag. "Upon your first elimination, you will be taken as a Prisoner of Warzone and thrown into the Gulag," Activision's Stephanie Glover wrote in a blog post. "There you will await your fate and watch other prisoners fight to the death. When your turn is up, you'll enter the Gulag and face-off against a single opponent in a 1v1 to earn the ultimate reward--redeployment."

Now Playing: Call Of Duty: Warzone - Everything You Need To Know In Under 4 Minutes
If you don't happen to win in the Gulag, all is not lost. Your squad can still bring you back with in-match cash, and that's where Contracts come in. While the Gulag gives you something to do while you wait to respawn, Contracts offer tasks for players who are in between skirmishes.
Your squad can only activate one Contract at a time and each one tasks you with different goals. One may ask you to find and open a series of supply boxes, for example, while another may give you the job of securing a specific location. Completing Contracts nets you cash and special in-match rewards, like being able to see where the next circle is. The cash can be used to buy a variety of perks, such as Killstreaks or Redeploy Tokens--the latter of which can be used to bring back fallen comrades who couldn't survive The Gulag.
Call of Duty: Warzone will be available on Xbox One, PS4, and PC starting March 10--you won't be able to download it until the day of, which is unfortunate given its massive download size.
