May 20, 2025 11:25 AM

Activision has canceled this week's Call of Duty League tournament series due to the wild weather in parts of the United States.

In a tweet, the CDL said, "In light of winter storms across the United States, we will not be hosting competition tomorrow [February 19]."

Activision is, however, planning some form of replacement for the event. This will be announced today, February 18, at 9 AM PT / 12 PM ET. Keep checking back with GameSpot for the latest.

All Call of Duty League matches in 2021 are taking place online due to COVID-19, so many wondered why Activision needed to cancel an online tournament due to weather. Internet connectivity is already a fickle enterprise, and anyone who lives in a place with snow storms and other extreme weather is well aware that bad weather can often lead to internet issues.

A snowstorm and cold weather is wreaking havoc on Texas and many other states, leaving millions without power, which is an obvious issue for people trying to play video games at home. The storms have hit more than a dozen states.

In other Call of Duty news, Black Ops Cold War is kicking off its latest double XP weekend very soon, while there are also new playlists and store bundles to check out.
