Metal Gear Solid 4's online component--Metal Gear Online--is coming to an end. Publisher Konami today announced that on June 12, the online shooter will be shut down for good. MGO KIA on June 12.
The game's Online Shop will be the first to shut its doors, ceasing operation on March 21. And on April 24, gamers will no longer be able to create and register new characters for the game. Also on that date, Konami will make all Metal Gear Online expansion packs available for free.
Metal Gear Online launched in 2008 alongside Metal Gear Sold 4: Guns of the Patriots and was also available as a separate download in Japan. The online shooter amassed more than 1 million worldwide users.
