VU Games appoints Tolkien music director
VU Games appoints Tolkien music director-June 2024
Jun 28, 2025 4:52 PM

Vivendi Universal Games has today announced that it has hired award-winning composer Chance Thomas for the position of Tolkien Music Director. In his new role, Thomas, who most recently worked on the Oscar-winning animated short film The ChubbChubbs, will be responsible for creating and producing musical themes for all of VU Games' Tolkien-inspired games.

"The depth of passion, energy, meticulous fine-tuning, hard work, and dedication that went into creating and producing the music at this level underscores VU Games' commitment to a leather-bound-edition-vision of quality for the games in the The Lord of the Rings franchise," said Thomas. "I can't wait until gamers hear the singers from the Mormon Tabernacle Choir singing the Black Speech of Mordor. It will make their hair stand on end and send shivers down their spines!"

Thomas has already produced a musical score for the recently released The Lord of the Rings: War of the Ring and was also involved in the music direction for The Hobbit. Going forward, Thomas' themes will be used to tie all of VU Games' Tolkien games together with a series of common musical threads.
