Valve has opened up Steam Music Player to all Steam users following several months of beta testing, and is offering up some of its own game soundtracks for free to mark the occasion.

The Steam Music Player offers in-game access to audio files, which can be played via the platform's shift+tab overlay. It means that players don't need to exit full screen or switch tasks in order to peruse their music collection and queue up songs to play.

To mark the occasion, Valve is offering Steam users some of its most popular game soundtracks for free. Those who already own games such as Half-Life 2 and Portal 2 will now find the soundtracks of them in the Steam Music Library section.

Valve is also hosting a 75 percent discount on six games that have their own soundtracks. They are:

Half-LifeHalf-Life 2Half-Life 2: Episode OneHalf-Life 2: Episode TwoPortalPortal 2Since its release in 2004, Steam has become an essential platform for many PC gamers. The platform, which is also available on Mac and Linux, has amassed more than 100 million users.
