Following the delay of Watch Dogs to Spring 2014, Ubisoft has also confirmed that it has delayed the release of its open-world next-gen racer The Crew.

　　The Crew was never given a specific date, but was pegged to be released in Spring 2014. Ubisoft has now pushed the game back to its next financial year, meaning it will be released after April 1, 2014.

　　The game was first revealed at E3 2013.

　　Speaking about the delay of both The Crew and Watch Dogs, Ubisoft CEO Yves Guillemot said "our long term goal is to win the next generation. The tough decisions we are taking today to fully realize the major potential of our new creations have an impact on our short-term performance."

　　"We are convinced that, longer term, they will prove to be the right decisions both in terms of satisfaction for our fans and in terms of value creation for our shareholders. We are building franchises that will become perennial pillars of Ubisoft’s financial performance. In a context of growing successes for mega-blockbusters, the additional time given to the development of our titles will allow them to fulfill their huge ambitions and thus offer players even more exceptional experiences.”

　　Guillemot concluded by saying that he believes Ubisoft will break its record for operating revenue in fiscal years 2014-15 and 2015-16. As a result of the delays, the company has lowered its sales target for the year a figure between €995 million and €1,045 million for the year. Its previous sales targets sat between €1,420 million and €1,450 million.
