If you're a big sci-fi fan, building a starship is probably the stuff of your dreams. Simon & Schuster has released one tool that could help you along - Star Trek: Starship Creator for both the PC and Mac.
Starship designers sit in the Starship admiral's seat while building, staffing, and launching a fleet of crafts. The title allows you to mix and match parts from seven different classes of starships including three USS Enterprises (from the original series, The Next Generation, and Insurrection), the Defiant from Deep Space Nine, the Voyager from Star Trek: Voyager, and five others.
Would-be designers can also configure internal drive systems, weaponry, defensive shields, holodecks, and crew quarters.
Once you build your fleet, you can print out your creations or trade them with others over the Internet. You can also test your new craft in a series of simulations to see how it would hold up under light or heavy conditions - so you can find out if you'll build the first galactic Titanic.
