When The Chronicles of Riddick was released this summer, it received better-than-expected reviews and saw bigger-than-expected sales. Now its developer, Sweden-based Starbreeze, has parlayed the game's success into a mysterious new business deal.
Today, Starbreeze CEO Johan Kristiansson posted a Swedish-language note on the studio's site saying that he had signed a "letter of intent" with an unnamed American publisher to develop an unnamed game. "Following our success with Riddick, many leading publishers have shown interest in working with us," he said in a statement. "That has given us a good negotiating position, and we have been able to choose between many different projects."
Other than saying it was for "next-generation game consoles," Kristiansson gave no details on the game. He also emphasized that the deal was not finalized yet. "Our intention now is to complete negotiations about the development agreement during the next few months," said the CEO.
