TOKYO--According to reports in the upcoming issue of Weekly Jump magazine, Square Enix will release a Romancing Saga remake on the Sony PlayStation 2. To be titled Romancing Saga: Minstrel Song, the classic Super Nintendo Entertainment System role-playing game from 1992 will be returning with 3D graphics.
Slated for release in the spring of 2005, the game's illustrations will once again be drawn by Tomomi Kobayashi, the man behind the animation for the Romancing Saga series since its inception. Also returning is series creator Kawazu Akitoshi, who will oversee the development of the game.
Similar to the original Romancing Saga, Romancing Saga: Minstrel Song will feature eight main characters and a "free scenario selection" system, which will give players options rather than having them be forced to follow a single scenario, as in most other console RPGs.
Romancing Saga: Minstrel Song is expected to be on display at the upcoming Tokyo Game Show.
