Rock Band 4 developer Harmonix has acknowledged some of its employees posted reviews for the music game on Amazon. The company's admission comes after a Reddit user discovered that a handful of very-positive reviews on Amazon came from people whose names match those who work at Harmonix.

In a statement to Destructoid, Harmonix said it has "clarified its internal policy about posting reviews of our own products on retail sites, and we've asked that existing reviews be edited to identify Harmonix employees or be removed entirely."
Harmonix went on to say that it never intended to deceive (the game was already getting mostly positive review scores from critics), but still labeled the actions inappropriate.
"While we believe the reviews posted by a few employees were sincere and without ill intentions, as a studio we don't believe these are appropriate actions," it added. "We appreciate the feedback from the community, and take our relationship with our fans seriously."
Rock Band 4 launched on October 6 for Xbox One and PS4. GameSpot's Rock Band 4 review scored the music game a 7/10.
"A lack of content and general stagnation hold this particular iteration of Rock Band back," reviewer Scott Butterworth said. "But new ideas like Freestyle Solos genuinely enhance the core experience, which remains a sincere and joyful celebration of music."
