With the kickoff of the game-music concert series Play! A Video Game Symphony scheduled for May 27 in Chicago, Illinois, its promoter has revealed new theme music for the tour. Organizer JMP Productions announced today that Nobuo Uematsu, longtime composer of Final Fantasy games, has created the opening fanfare for the concert series, which will be the first selection performed at every Play! concert worldwide.
"I feel truly blessed to be able to share the compositions of Nobuo Uematsu with the world," Play! producer Jason Michael Paul said in a statement. "It is a wonderful feeling to have the cooperation of Uematsu san. The opening fanfare will serve as the theme of Play!, and I am extremely proud and honored to have his remarkable works performed at every show."
At the moment, Play! has six tour dates scheduled, with the latest addition being an August 4, 2006, performance at the Wolf Trap Filene Center in Vienna, Virginia. For more information or to hear Uematsu's fanfare, check out the series' Web site.
