Nintendo Company Limited has announced that reduced component prices and the resultant drop in the cost of manufacturing its Game Boy Advance handheld will help increase the company's profits in the first six months of its current fiscal year. Although Nintendo has not reported specifics regarding its financials for the period, according to Japanese publication Nihon Keizai Shimbun, the company will report profits of 51 billion yen (about $418 million) for the six-month period, ahead of its earlier forecast of 49 billion yen (about $400 million).
Nintendo expects to sell 23 million Game Boy Advance units by March 2002, the end of its current fiscal year.
