Infogrames Pulls No Punches-June 2024
Jun 9, 2025 11:12 PM

CANNES - Infogrames is Europe's biggest game publisher, so it should come as no surprise that it had plenty to talk about at Milia. Indeed, the company's lineup of PC games was among the strongest at the show, with several innovative projects nearing completion.

SilverOur favorite Infogrames game is the oddly named Silver. It's an isometric RPG that feels like a jacked-up Final Fantasy VII. The graphics are simply superb, with intricately detailed environments featuring the latest in lighting effects. The game appears to have a more than adequate array of dungeons to explore and secrets to discover, along with the requisite weapons and spells befitting a fantasy RPG. And the beasties, which must be conquered in real time, are downright nasty. Look for Silver in March.

OutcastOne of the most anticipated European releases of 1999, Outcast is a third-person action-adventure that doesn't look or play like anything else currently in the market. Of particular note is the game's unusual but impressive voxel-based graphics engine, which does a brilliant job of displaying the game's various outdoor environments. The game's 60-minute soundtrack is performed by the Moscow Symphony Orchestra. Outcast is due out in June.

StarShotInfogrames wouldn't be Infogrames without at least one kooky game in the lineup, and here it is. StarShot is a Mario-esque action game that sends you across a series of fanciful worlds in search of new and exciting ways to thwart the evil Virtua Circus. The game uses a proprietary 3D engine that Infogrames claims can easily manipulate up to 10,000 polygons simultaneously - we didn't count them, but we can say that StarShot does look good, and we're looking forward to its March release.

We'll have more coverage of these games in future weeks and months. In the meantime, these screens will have to do.
