What Is E3?

Every year, the largest game developers and publishers gather in Los Angeles for the Electronic Entertainment Expo, or E3, where they preview their upcoming games, make important new announcements, and more! It's where Nintendo is expected to give us a glimpse of its new 3D-equipped handheld system, Microsoft will be showcasing its controllerless experience, and Sony will be demonstrating its motion-sensing hardware. Simply put, E3 is like the Super Bowl of video games.

Now, we've got some bad news, and some great news. The bad news is that E3 is not open to the general public, so don't go packing your bags and looking for airfare. The great news is that GameSpot is here to make sure that you find out about every piece of news, see every major press conference (and then some), get comprehensive previews of all the games, and more!

E3 Show Schedule

This is what E3 2009 looked like. Though E3 doesn't officially begin until June 15, you'll want to tune in to our coverage starting June 13 so you don't miss a single thing. This year, we'll have five full days of live video, continuous updates on every game you'll need to know about this year, and behind-the-scenes demos you can't get anywhere else.

As usual, the biggest part of the show will be the press conferences and our live stage show. For the first time ever, we'll be bringing you live video straight from the show floor for as long as it's open with our interactive LiveCam Tour, and you'll be able to tell us what you want to see and where you want us to go via e-mail. We'll also be bringing you live video coverage of some of the nightly events held during E3 as part of our Tonight On the Spot video series. All total, that's more than 40 hours of live video!

Here's a complete schedule of our live broadcasts. If you ever miss one, don't worry--you can always watch the archived version, though you might miss out on some achievements!

My E3

With My E3, it's easier than ever to find what you're looking for! E3 is the largest gaming event of the year, and literally thousands of new screenshots, videos, and stories appear on GameSpot throughout the course of the week of the show. How then can you keep up with all of that content and get the updates you care about the most? Our new "My E3" page is your answer.

My E3 lets GameSpot members customize their E3 experience in a way that hasn't been done before. Rather than relying on you to sort through every single update that goes up for every single game, you can use the My E3 page to filter out any updates that are not about your favorite games. In other words, My E3 will show you the latest movies, screenshots, and previews only for the games you are following (the action that we used to call "tracking").

Follow That Game!

A follow button in the wild. By following your favorite games, you're not only customizing the content you'll see on the My E3 page, but you're also ensuring that you'll get alerts whenever any new updates for those games appear on GameSpot.

As a bonus, any game that GameSpot members follow is also nominated for our Best of E3 Awards! Nonmembers can still nominate their favorite games (they'll see "nominate" buttons rather than "follow" buttons), but to take advantage of the My E3 page, they'll have to sign in or sign up.

After E3 is over, we'll be updating the rest of our site to feature the new follow buttons, and we have big things planned for how e-mail updates and following games in general will work.

Achievements List

As we've done in years past, we're giving out a set of special E3 2010 achievements for consuming our content during the show, so you can show off to your friends that you were there. Only GameSpot members are eligible for these, so make sure you've signed in to the site to unlock them!

Update: Two additional episodes of Tonight On the Spot was added on Tuesday night, and so the requirements for the Night Owl and Special Agent achievements have been updated--watch three episodes of Tonight On the Spot to qualify for them!
