High on Life, the shooter with talking guns that have funny voices, got an extended gameplay demonstration at Gamescom. The combat scenario, which appeared to be a boss battle, took place in a closed arena covered with slime, as your talkative-as-hell weapons guided you through with tips and trash-talked the villain.

　　The demo showcased shooting at the boss, quipping at the boss, and swinging around rails and grapple points to avoid falling into the slime when she raised it to cover the battlefield. She also kept diving in herself and then diving out to surprise you, which was the source of many jokes about how horrible it smells, how gross it is that she kept voluntarily going into the slime, and so forth.

　　High on Life is the next project from Squanch Games, a studio headed by Rick and Morty co-creator Justin Roiland. His humor style is all over the game, right down to the logo, and it looks like it will offer a unique and quirky take on first-person shooters. Your weapons talk to you, acting as characters themselves, and they each have distinct abilities. You better hope you're friends with all of them.

　　High on Life recently received a small delay, and is now scheduled to arrive on December 13. It'll be available for PC and Xbox, releases as a day-one title on Game Pass, and will be playable via Xbox Cloud Gaming.
