　　What we heard: When the Xbox 360 went on sale in 2005, Microsoft made much of how its technical brawn would usher the world into the HD era. However, one of the most popular and acclaimed launch games on the console was Geometry Wars: Retro Evolved, a throwback to classic arcade games such as Asteroids and Tempest. Developed by Project Gotham Racing studio Bizarre Creations, the title proved a monster hit on Xbox Live, and has been downloaded hundreds of thousands of times.

　　Earlier this year, Geometry Wars was released for the PC...to less rosy reviews than its predecessor. Apparently, though, a lack of critical buzz wasn't enough to stop Bizarre Creations from porting the games to two more platforms. Buttonbasher has posted a scan of what it claims is the July edition of Nintendo Power, which says Geometry Wars is coming to both the Wii and DS. The new edition of the game, reportedly titled Geometry Wars: Galaxies, will "use the motion control in the Wii version and touch control in the DS version." According to the article, both versions of the game will also sport multiplayer modes and an "extensive single-player campaign" in addition to the original Retro Evolved.

　　Bogus or not bogus?: Though GameSpot was unable to attain a physical copy of the July Nintendo Power, the Buttonbasher blog scans are awfully convincing. Probably--and hopefully--not bogus.
