Although the kick off season has yet to conclude for the ASUS ROG DreamLeague we are now in a position due to the latest standings where we now know at least three of the four teams that have successfully qualified for a position at the DreamHack Winter 2013 playoffs which boosts a total prize pool of $50,000.

The DreamLeague kick off season features six invited teams from three different regions (North America, Western Europe and Eastern Europe) and is backed by DreamHack, ASUS ROG and Roccat with the GD Studio and the Swedish national TV channel TV6 handling the production. The tournament has started off with an online based qualifier consisting of 30 best of one matches which allows for each of the six invited teams to play against each other twice. The qualifiers are due to end later today and will determine which team gets the remaining slot at DreamHack and will also provide us with the brackets for the playoffs.

The six invited teams. Evil Geniuses, Team Liquid, Alliance, Virtus.pro, Na'Vi and Fnatic. The three known teams so far who will now attend the playoffs at DreamHack Winter 2013 will be Team Liquid, Na'Vi and Fnatic due to the fact that all three teams are guaranteed a top four finish. The remaining matches are due to be played later today and will determine who the fourth team will be.

DreamHack Winter 2013 is set to run from the 28th of November till the 1st of December in the city of Jönköping, Sweden which will be a mere four days after the end of MLG Columbus, Ohio in which all three teams are scheduled to be attending.

The current favourites for the final position are Alliance who are in a very strong position and only require one win out of their three remaining matches today in order to seal the deal on their ticket to DreamHack.

On the other hand a potential upset could also be on the table which would happen if Alliance failed to win any of their matches today. If that was the case then it would open up the fourth place spot for Evil Geniuses to take who defeated Alliance earlier on in the tournament. Evil Geniuses would only have to win their match against Team Liquid in order to secure the position for themselves (the match was postponed from an earlier point in the tournament when EG was suffering from distributed denial of service attacks against their gaming house and will be played off stream later today).

Alliance will face off against Team Liquid, Na'Vi and Evil Geniuses in the final day of the DHW qualifiers. (All times are in CET)onGamers caught up with Sam 'BuLba' Sosale from Team Liquid after their position in the playoffs was confirmed yesterday, who told us that:

"It feels great to qualify for DreamHack. The pool of six teams were definitely a challenge and the ability to go to the event in Jonkoping at DreamHack Winter is great. Especially since its right after MLG so that means two LAN events right in a row for us."

Sam also expressed his appreciation for format used for the qualifiers which he believes helps benefit the viewers more:

"I really liked the format of the BO1 games that allowed us to play each team twice. It allows for different teams and games to be played which benefits the viewers and should help keep things entertaining for them."

The DreamLeague action will continue later tonight with a pre-show starting at 10:45 PST/13:45 EST/18:45 GMT/19:45 CET before the three big Alliance games kick off over their twitch channel.
