Former Capcom executive director Yoshiki Okamoto revealed through his Web site that his development studio, Game Republic, recently made a presentation to Microsoft. Although details on what was discussed were not disclosed, Okamoto comments that the meeting went well and that he hopes to receive a go-ahead on the proposed project in the near future.
"I can't write the details [of the meeting] here, since they're confidential. But we're planning on filing patents on some of the ideas that were thought out for the project," comments Okamoto in his site's diary. "In other words, Game Republic has confidence."
Yoshiki Okamoto established Game Republic last July after he retired from his position at Capcom. Game Republic currently has studios in three locations--Osaka, Tokyo, and Nagoya prefecture. The studio in Nagoya, which consists mostly of ex-Capcom employees, is currently developing a game for an unknown platform. The studio in Tokyo is working on a project in collaboration with Sony Computer Entertainment.
Aside from being the president of his game company, Okamoto works as the principle of the Human Game College. Okamoto also runs his own monthly online TV show, Yoshiki Okamoto's Yuugi Republic, where he interviews guests from the gaming industry.
