Cooking-Themed Life-Sim Epic Chef Announced, And It Looks Delightful-May 2024
May 11, 2025 9:22 AM

Team17, the publisher behind Overcooked and Moving Out, has announced its latest game--and it sounds really interesting and unique. Developed by Infinigon Games, Epic Chef is a cooking-themed single-player life-simulator game coming to PC.

"Players will find themselves in the city of Ambrosia and as Zest, the mysterious new stranger in town, they must take on master chefs in histrionic culinary combat in a bid to become the best chef in town," reads a line from Team17's press release.

Epic Chef has a narrative element, along with life-sim activities such as farming and foraging. You go fishing, enjoy a day at the spa, or just zen out in the "laid back" city of Ambrosia.

There is also a combat element in Epic Chef where you can take on "master chefs" in a cook-off where you're rated by judges who have different tastes each time you visit them.

The Epic Chef story was inspired by the work of the late author Sir Terry Pratchett--and specifically his "wicked humor," according to Team17.

"We are excited to have Epic Chef become the latest title to be added to our collection, the unique gameplay and the unrelenting humour are right at home with what we strive to achieve at Team17," publishing boss Max Everingham said. "The development team are creating something truly distinctive, and from the very first bite we're certain players will relish and savour every morsel Epic Chef has to offer."

A release date for Epic Chef has not been announced, and there is no word on whether the game will also come to console.
