Recently we got to see a World of Warcraft-themed wedding, and now comes another romantic story where fantasy became reality. In Bethesda's The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim, the enchanted "Amulet of Mara" is used to unlock various romantic dialogues, one of which is the option to wed other characters.

That's how it works in the game, and that's how it happened in real life for one couple.

"I introduced [my fiance] to Skyrim--and he enjoys every minute of the game," Sarah Briody told Kotaku. "I love watching him play because we both have very different game styles. We do play other multiplayer games together when we have the opportunity."

Briody recalled that when her partner proposed to her using the Amulet of Mara, she did not initially understand what was happening.

"He gave me the amulet and while I recognized what it was--it didn't really click as to WHAT it was," Briody said. "I put it on and he started to smile from ear to ear. Then he said: 'Is that an Amulet of Mara? I'm surprised someone like you isn't spoken for.'"

"Then it finally registered that he was proposing! He got down on one knee and slipped the ring on my finger."

Briody said yes, and would later post an image of the amulet and the ring on Reddit. "Best. Proposal. Ever.," she wrote.

In February, role-playing game studio BioWare recalled how two Mass Effect 3 players met, fell in love, and were eventually married. You can read that story here.
