Nintendo is trying to match the glamour and fame of a news internship at GameSpot by offering its own take on the best summer job ever. The company announced today that it had selected the members of its 2004 Nintendo Street Teams, which will be setting up shop at the first events this weekend.
Making up six eight-person teams in Chicago, Atlanta, Dallas, New York, Los Angeles, and Seattle, these Nintendo fans will be paid $100 a day to play GameCube and Game Boy Advance games while promoting the Nintendo brand at festivals, fairs, and sporting events in their respective areas. According to the press release, the teams are currently undergoing rigorous training at Nintendo boot camps to keep their thumbs limber and their enthusiasm infectious throughout the summer.
Nintendo is also adding some reality-show flavor to this year's program with the help of Troy McClain (pictured), whom you may know from such shows as The Apprentice. Based at the Nintendo Street Team Web site, the contest pits the teams against each other in weekly challenges, such as performing karaoke or visiting a children's charity. The teams accrue points based on their success, some of which are awarded by visitors to the Web site, toward a final prize of $40,000.
More information, including team bios, schedules, additional contests, and audition videos for the winning team members, can be found at the Web site.
