Netflix's wacky and wonderful game show, Floor Is Lava, has been renewed. A second season is now in the works, with host Rutledge Wood coming back to host, according to Variety.
Like the first season, the sophomore run will feature contestants trying to survive an obstacle course as they attempt to get from one side to the other without falling into the lava. It's not actual lava, of course, but once you fall in you're out.
Season 1 premiered on Netflix in June 2020 and it was a massive success, reaching 37 million member households in its first four weeks, according to Netflix. With many people in lockdown due to the pandemic at the time, Floor is Lava was just the type of light escapism many might have been looking for.
It remains to be seen what changes might be afoot for Season 2 of Floor Is Lava. Netflix recently disclosed that it plans to spend $17 billion in its fiscal year on original programming, so here's to hoping that some of that money is spent on more elaborate obstacle courses.
In other news, Netflix has disclosed that it now has 208 million subscribers globally.
