Activision announced that Hexen II's first add-on, Portal of Praevus, is on track for early this year for North America and will sell for US$29.95.

　　The pack will pit players against the wizard Praevus, an evil type that plans to resurrect and combine the Serpent Riders' souls to increase his own power, on a new continent - Tibet - as a seemingly unending winter has struck the land.

　　Included in the pack will be 15 new levels, three powerful opponents, and the addition of a new character class - a demoness who was a former minion of the Serpent Rider Eidolon and whose abilities include new spells, power-channeling icons, and ranged projectiles.

　　"In the Portal of Praevus, the wrath of Serpent Riders is once again plaguing humanity, and salvation rests at the edge of each player's blade," states Mitch Lasky, senior vice president of Activision Studios. "The rich varied worlds of Hexen II are further augmented by the photo-realistic environments, challenging puzzles, and dynamic gameplay of this all-new mission pack."

　　Other additions to the Hexen II world include an even more enhanced environment with falling snow and ice catacombs, hidden tunnels, man-made aqueducts, ice caverns, and an ancient Buddhist temple.

　　"The Hexen II world just got a little bigger and colder," said Brian Raffel, of Raven Software. "I think gamers will love the new environment and the chance to test their skills against one of the most devious enemies ever."
