Internet communications company Theglobe.com today announced that it has launched an online auction Web site dedicated to games, GameSwapZone.com. Theglobe.com brings its prior experience in the industry to bear in this venture, leveraging the readership of its print and online components of Computer Games Magazine to spur initial traffic to the site.
Theglobe.com boasts 4,500 auctions on the site, which offers free basic listings but charges fees for bold-faced or highlighted listings, listings with reserve prices or buy-it-now options, as well as a commission ranging from 10 percent of the purchase price for items that fetch $5 or less, to 3.5 percent for anything over $100.
