Uncharted Movie Delays Production Amid COVID-19 Outbreak
Uncharted Movie Delays Production Amid COVID-19 Outbreak-May 2024
May 4, 2025 3:58 AM

The Uncharted movie took more than a decade to finally start production, but things are slowing down again. Sony has paused pre-production on the film by six weeks due to the COVID-19 outbreak, according to Variety.

Cameras were set to roll starting in April in Berlin, but executives at Sony made the call to put the production on pause. There is currently no word on when, exactly, production will begin again. Also unknown is if the Uncharted movie's March 5, 2021 release date is still on the schedule.

Spider-Man actor Tom Holland stars in the Uncharted movie as a young Nathan Drake. Mark Wahlberg plays Sully, while Antonio Banderas, Tati Gabrielle, and Sophia Ali have also been cast. Venom and Zombieland director Ruben Fleischer is directing the movie for Sony.

Uncharted is just the latest big movie production to shut down amid concerns around the virus. The Matrix 4 and The Batman are among the other movies that have temporarily stopped production, while Amazon's Lord of the Rings TV show has stopped filming as well.

The Uncharted movie is the first project from the recently formed PlayStation Productions, which is a division of the gaming company focused on adapting its franchises for TV and film. PlayStation Productions also recently announced a partnership with HBO for a Last of Us TV show that will be co-written by Chernobyl and The Hangover franchise writer Craig Mazin.
