TOKYO--Square Enix has opened the teaser site for its newly announced PlayStation 2 remake of the Super Nintendo Entertainment System (SNES) title Romancing Saga. Titled Romancing Saga: Minstrel Song, the remake of the classic 1992 role-playing game will feature 3D graphics among other new changes from its predecessor. The teaser site currently hosts two TV commercial ads, but it doesn't contain any in-game footage.
Romancing Saga: Minstrel Song is being developed under the direction of series creator Kawazu Akitoshi, with illustrations from series artist Tomomi Kobayashi. Its core gameplay seems to be fundamentally identical to the SNES original, as it will feature eight main characters and the "free scenario selection" system, a nonlinear approach that will give gamers the freedom of choice.
Romancing Saga: Minstrel Song is expected to be playable next week at the upcoming Tokyo Game Show. The game is slated for release in spring 2005.
