The anthology series Creepshow is one of the big successes for the horror streaming service Shudder, and Season 2 is now in production. But while fans will have to wait until 2021 for the next batch of spooky stories, the service has announced that a new animated Creepshow special will be released next month.
The animated Halloween Creepshow special will feature two new stories, both written by Stephen King, who wrote the original Creepshow movie in 1982, and his son Joe Hill. The first is titled Survivor Type and features 24 star Kiefer Sutherland as a man trying to stay alive on a deserted island, while the second, Twittering from the Circus of the Dead, stars Joey King (The Kissing Booth) as a teenager on a scary family roadtrip.

The special hits Shudder on October 26, and it is directed by Creepshow showrunner Greg Nicotero. In a press release, Nicotero said, "Halloween wouldn't be complete without Creepshow, so with the help of the father and son team of Stephen and Joe, as well as a fantastic animated format, we get to continue the tradition and spirit of Halloween."
Creepshow Season 2 was originally set to start production earlier this year but was delayed due to the COVID-19 pandemic. However, Nicotero revealed in June that the downtime had allowed him to make a start on stories for Season 3.
In related news, Shudder announced this week that it now has more than a million subscribers. The service has released a wide range of new movies and shows over the past year, including the acclaimed found footage film Host, Cursed Films, and The Last Drive-In with host Joe Bob Briggs.
