Origin's Second Age Cometh-May 2024
May 15, 2025 12:14 PM

The Second Age expands the massively multiplayer Ultima Online lands with new perils for new players and existing fans.

"Our loyal player community, made up of thousands of passionate players from all over the world, has made Ultima Online a worldwide success," said Richard Garriott, the creative force behind the internationally acclaimed Ultima series. "In response to the worldwide demand, we are thrilled to introduce server support in Japan and Europe, in addition to the nine already in North America."

New features for the title include a language translation program that will allow one natural language to be translated over to another with support for English to German, German to English, English to Japanese, and Japanese to English, and more languages will be added later.

The UO team has added new areas to explore, and additional creatures, weapons, and spells. New terrain for The Second Age includes jungles, rivers, lost temples, canyons, swamps, and Arctic regions. New communication tools add a new IRC-like chat system across entire gameworlds complete with a messaging system. For new UO players, the Second Age adds an off-line tutorial, a new interface, and a printed manual.

Ultima Online: The Second Age is available to new players for around US$49.99, which includes a manual, a map, and 30 days of free online gameplay (which will cost $9.95 after the free period is over). If you're a current UO player, you can order an upgrade from Origin for $6.99 (cost is $12.99 for players outside the US and Canada).
