Electronic Arts has released a new group of screenshots from its upcoming online-only driving game, Motor City Online. The new screenshots show off five of the racecourses that will be featured in the game, including a road course, an oval track, two street courses, and a drag strip. Several different car models can be seen in the screenshots as well.
Motor City Online is designed to celebrate the golden age of American hot rods, and it features classic cars, stock cars, and muscle cars from the 1930s through the 1970s. It includes more than 50 classic cars, including the '49 Mercury Coupe, the '57 Chevrolet Bel Air, the '64 Ford Mustang, and the '69 Pontiac GTO. In addition, the game lets players customize their cars with more than 1,000 real-life parts to give them better performance or looks.
The game features two modes: sim world and arcade action. In sim world, players buy, sell, trade, and customize their cars and then take them out to race on a wide variety of tracks. To augment their weekly salary, players can earn extra money by winning pro races or betting with other drivers. The more straightforward arcade action mode lets players pick a car, a track, and a race and then jump right into the competition.
Motor City Online is being developed by EA Seattle, the developer behind Need For Speed: Hot Pursuit and Need For Speed: High Stakes, and it is scheduled for release in October. For more information, take a look at our previous coverage of the game.
