Naughty Dog Has Some “Sick” Ideas For Uncharted 4 Multiplayer They Haven’t Shown Yet
Naughty Dog Has Some “Sick” Ideas For Uncharted 4 Multiplayer They Haven’t Shown Yet

If you own Uncharted: The Nathan Drake Collection (and you should), chances are you participated in the Uncharted 4 multiplayer beta last week.

However, even if you did you shouldn't assume that there won't be any surprises in the final game for this mode. In fact, Lead Multiplayer Designer Robert Cogburn teased some interesting stuff for Uncharted 4 multiplayer in an interview published yesterday on Gamespot.

[Laughs] It's going to be fun to consider which direction we take things. We've got some sick ideas.

The team has been working really hard, and we're excited to release the game. We have some ideas we haven't shown yet, and we're excited to get them out there.

The "sick ideas" answer is a reference to the supernatural elements Naughty Dog has introduced in Uncharted 4 multiplayer, in stark contrast to the more grounded The Last of Us.

During multiplayer matches, players will be able to harness the power of certain Mysticals that have been introduced in Uncharted lore through the previous games. Here's a list of the known Mysticals so far, though with Cogburn's tease it's safe to expect more of them:

Wrath of El Dorado – When thrown, the El Dorado sarcophagus from Uncharted 1 appears to unleash spirits that track down the enemies near where it is placed, and damage them.

Spirit of Djinn – The Djinn magic from Uncharted 3 imbues the player with the ability to teleport short distances, but they won’t be able to take cover.

Cintamani Stone – Activating this mystical from Uncharted 2 revives Downed allies within its area of effect to full health instantly.

Staff of Ayar Manco – This staff, from the Uncharted: The Fourth Labyrinth novel, casts a magical force across an entire map revealing where the opposing team is located. It will also show up on the mini-map and can be destroyed.

Indra’s Eternity – From the Uncharted: Eye of Indra motion comic, this Mystical slows down any enemy that enters its visible area of effect.

If you played the Uncharted 4 multiplayer beta, what did you think of it? Let us know in the comments, and don't forget that Uncharted 4: A Thief's End is a candidate for Most Anticipated Game of 2016 in our Reader's Awards.
