TOKYO - Here are the latest screenshots of Mario Golf 64 for the Nintendo 64. This game is being developed by Camelot, the company responsible for Hot Shot Golf for the PlayStation. Known characters in the game include Mario, Luigi, Princess Peech, Baby Mario, Wario, Yoshi, a little girl named Plum, and a guy named Sunny.

　　The game contains six holes on 108 courses and multiplayer options for up to four players simultaneously. Although this game has a cartoonish feel to it in many respects with its characters, shots and look, the developer says that players can expect a simple but more entertaining experience instead of playing golf in real life.

　　Mario Golf 64 is compatible with Mario Golf GB, which will be released after the N64 version. While it's not known what options will be available with this compatibility, both can be connected via 64GB Pak, just like Pokemon Stadium.

　　This is the fourth golf game to feature Mario characters. Previous Nintendo golf games include Golf Japan Course and US Course for Famicom Disk System back in 1987. And later there was Mario Open Golf for the Famicom in 1991. The first two games were quite popular, especially for their nationwide tournament promotion of the games. Currently, Nintendo doesn't have plans to hold the same kind of campaign, but Mario Golf 64 is already building up popularity among gamers who enjoyed the originals.
