On of the biggest franchises in fantasy-game history got bigger today, when Atari shipped Magic: The Gathering - Battlegrounds. Battlegrounds is based on the card-trading game that turned Wizards of the Coast from an obscure group of Seattle-area gamers into the rights-holder to the Dungeons and Dragons franchise (among others). Like its analog cousin, the game centers on casting spells and gathering the resources to do so. GameSpot's preview tells you exactly how it works.
Rated 'T' for Teen, Magic the Gathering is available for Xbox and PC only, and retails for $49.99--no card purchase necessary.
