Konami powers full Mercury Steam ahead
Konami powers full Mercury Steam ahead-June 2024
Jun 27, 2025 2:07 PM

It seems fairly safe to say that with the release of Metal Gear Solid 4 for the PlayStation 3 in June, Konami is pretty much covered in the major title department for the year. However, aside from The Collective's Silent Hill 5, the publisher's future lineup of big-name titles appears sparse.

Today, however, Konami parted the curtain ever so slightly to reveal plans for its next would-be hit. The publisher announced it had signed on Mercury Steam for an as-yet-unnamed project for the PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360. Details on the project are next to nonexistent, but the publisher did say "the title will form a major part of Konami's 2009-2010 line-up."

Mostly recently, Mercury Steam partnered with Codemasters on the tepidly received horror-themed shooter Clive Barker's Jericho for the Xbox 360, PS3, and PC. The Madrid, Spain-based outfit also handled development duties on America McGee's Scrapland in 2004. Konami also painted the project as a big win for its development extension into Europe. Konami's European arm is currently wrapping development on New International Track and Field for Nintendo's DS.
