Indie Spotlight - Annihilation
Indie Spotlight - Annihilation-May 2024
May 1, 2025 8:51 PM

If this game looks familiar to you, that's because it was inspired by the popular XBLA and PC game Geometry Wars. The goal of this game is simple: survive. As wave after wave of items are drawn toward your ship, you must continually shoot down these objects to ensure your survival.

The game's controls are fairly simple. You can move in all four directions and are given two weapons. Your first weapon is your primary gun, which can shoot lasers as fast as your fingers can click the mouse. This will be the weapon you'll constantly be using as you defend yourself against a barrage of objects. If there are too many items swarming you, your secondary weapon, the bomb, can be put to use. You are given three bombs that you can use at any time, but with only three total, you will want to save them for those crucial moments.

  Annihilation

With such simple, intuitive controls, you would think there would not be much to this game. Yet the classic shooter formula from back in the days of Asteroid that was then improved upon in Geometry Wars exists in this little gem. Before you know it, you'll find yourself playing hours at a time just trying to beat your previous high score. Annihilation is currently available for download at developer Andy Noble's home page. Best of all, it's free. So head on over there and give this game a shot. You've got nothing to lose. For more games like this, check out the Downloads blog on the GameSpot Downloads page.
